Cirencester teenager keeps up pace in Historic Formula Ford Championship

CIRENCESTER’S up-and-coming racing driver Ben Mitchell, 18, remains in second place in the Historic Formula Ford Championship after the seventh round of the series at Brands Hatch last weekend.

Mitchell finished the race in fourth place, 13 seconds behind the winner Benn Simms, who has therefore extended his lead in the championship.

Simms, a former Formula 3 champion, has now won five of the seven races with Mitchell runner-up on four occasions.

Ben’s sole win came in the round on the new Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.

Ben has just finished his A-levels in Maths, Physics and Chemistry at Cirencester College.
