THE ONLY downside was the result because I thought we were unlucky not to go through.

It was a good display and we would have been good value for a win.

I was chuffed for them because they raised their game and they can now see that the gap between us and Gloucester is not massive.

Now I have to get everyone ready for the replay on Wednesday and there is no doubt that physically and mentally that match will have taken a lot out of them.

However, we went to Grays in a replay and beat them against the odds in the previous round and some of our best displays this season have been away from home.

I have more good memories than bad of Whaddon Road so I am still hopeful.

Gloucester may have a bit more quality than us but they will win nothing if they don’t match our work rate – and we work incredibly hard.

Again, it is a game we are not expected to win, so there is nothing to be frightened of and we can enjoy it.

I know Matt Bulman has had to make some saves, but I thought their keeper kept them in the tie in the first half and they also had a couple of efforts cleared off the line.

We scored a very good goal and Jody has also hit the bar.

We were not at all happy about their goal because Edwards fouled Lyndon to get clear and that is something the ref admitted afterwards.

But we showed great character to hit back so quickly.

Of course, it does not get any easier because we have to travel to league leaders Truro on Saturday, but I am hoping for two more positive results because I can see the self belief come flooding back.

Yes, in the City game, there was plenty of grit and determination, but I thought we showed a bit of quality, too.
