I felt sorry for Hosky when he tweaked a hamstring because he was as good as we’ve seen him for some time.

Jamie Reid had more shots in the first 45 minute than he has had in my entire time at the club.

Our new system is starting to look okay. It may not suit the centre forwards at the club but it works for some of the other key players.

Jody Bevan has been badgering me about starting him and when he and Hosky came on at Didcot they made things happen so I gave them a start.

Hosky was a real threat against Bedford and Jody got a fine hat-trick – and it could have been more. Jody may look untidy at times but he had a real point to prove.

His first goal was a header at the far post when he got himself isolated; the second was a penalty after Hosky was fouled by the keeper and he took his third very well off a Carl Brown through ball.

Bedford got better in the second half but we still had chances to kill the game off even before Jody completed his hat-trick.

Then they scored with about seven minutes to go and as we had not won at home all season, we got a bit jittery.

There were a lot more positives than I have seen for some weeks and it is nice to be on the first page of the Southern Premier table when it comes up on Sky Sports.

We’ve now won three, drawn three and lost four and we played three of those games in the midst of an injury crisis. The only result that grates was the loss to Supermarine.
