We got exactly what we deserved out of the game which was nothing.
I don’t know where that performance came from – it was painful to watch.
We were not too special for the first 25 minutes but at least we gave it a bit of a go in the run up to half-time.
If Jody Bevan’s effort had gone in when we were 1-0 down instead of coming back off the bar, it might have been different.
The sad thing is that they did not have to be very good to beat us.
We were flat from start to finish, but I am not going to complain or dwell on it because that was definitely not us.
On a more positive note, the exercise in playing South Cerney on a frosty pitch at training for just over an hour on Thursday night proved very useful.
Lee Stevens, Jason Walsh and Scott Griffin were all involved, although it was mainly a game for the development side.
I must say they have improved since the start of the season and there were some eye-catching performances which bodes well for the club. They are all Cirencester lads, too. We have a game on Tuesday night at North Leigh and although Neil Griffiths has now completed his ban, he will not be fit to play because of his ankle injury. However, he tells me he will definitely be okay for the rearranged Paulton Rovers game on Sunday at the Corinium.
Having lost both Jamie Reid and Rob Dean we will be stepping up our search for another midfielder and we will have to get out to a few games to monitor our targets.
