THE difference between the sides were two exceptional finishes from Carl Brown.

For the first, there was a ball over the top which the keeper headed out. It came to Browner 40 yards out and he has a keeper and a defender in front of him and another player on the line. Well, he has struck a volley so sweetly it has gone in over the head of the defender on the line.

The other one came about when their centre half did not deal with a bouncing ball and Browner nudged it past him with one touch and finished it off with his next.

Those goals were right up there among his best.

Otherwise, it was just another workmanlike performance. We looked anxious again at the start and it was the sort of game we could have gone in 1-0 down; instead we were a goal ahead.

They caused us problems for 20 or 25 minutes, although we did get better in the second half.

It was not the best spectacle but it was three points and another clean sheet.

Neil Griffiths has another game to serve on his ban so he won’t be involved until next Tuesday at the earliest.

Jason Welsh was missing because he was dealing with the aftermath of a burglary at home over the weekend.

Rob Dean has now left the club. He finished last season very well but did not have the best of pre-seasons and was struggling to get into the side. He has decided to look elsewhere to get some regular football.
