WE lost our way after about 15 minutes and we were poor in the first half.
I thought the front three foraged quite well but the midfield was not functioning Having said that Uxbridge had two shots and were 2-0 up and we would have been chuffed with their first goal which had some lovely one-touch football.
That goal seemed to take the wind out of our sails and we were a little off the pace after that.
We got stuck into the team at half-time and changed things early on in the second half when it still was not working and when we got back to 2-1 I thought there was only going to be one winner.
We knocked on the door for the rest of the second half and created a high number of chances, hitting the woodwork twice and going close on many occasions.
But we are are not going to win every match and it wasn’t to be our day.
We now have two big games in four days – away to Frome on Wednesday night and AFC Totton on Saturday.
The whole season is not going to hinge on these two games but we will know where we stand after them.
Matt Sysum has come in on a month’s loan from Gloucester City with a view to playing at Frome.
Right back is an area that is causing us problems and Matt did very well for us last season. He was also a threat at set pieces and scored three goals.
We want to make this side better. We want to build on our great start to the season and bringing in Matt is another example of the club’s intent.
