Pacy striker Carl Brown is out for the season with a knee injury

He has damaged the lateral ligaments of his knee and that is the end of his season.

He has been magnificent for us and he’s one of the reasons why we are on the run we are.

It is worse, too, in that he is such a nice, popular lad.

When Carl was stretchered off and we had to call the ambulance, we were still 1-0 up.

It was great to get the early goal but what Scott Mason was doing so far forward I don’t know.

Our right back crossed it, their keeper misjudged the flight, and our left back headed it in.

Jason Welsh had two good headers and on another occasion perhaps should have done better when he tried to lob the keeper.

Then we lost Browney. It wasn’t a challenge – he just went down after turning to get to a throw in.

We got to half time at 1-0 and I thought Winchester weren’t creating much, although they were a bit unpredictable up front which can be a worry.

It was even for the first 15 minutes of the second half and then they equalised from a long throw which we should have defended better.

I feared the worst at that point especially went Jason went down as if he had broken his leg.

We had to carry him off with ankle ligament damage but Dunny did a great job of icing it and, hopefully, he will only be out for two weeks.

So we now had two influential players (Griff and Davo) on the sidelines suspended and two more carried off injured.

Then, for the about the first time this season, we got a bit of luck. Their right back has sliced a clearance off his shin which has gone to the keeper. The ref called it a back pass and we had a free kick ten yards out which was touched to Tom Etheridge who slammed it in.

Then Matty Williams got a well-worked goal for 3-1. It was not a vintage performance by any means, but we were good value for our three points.

Griff is back for the Bridgwater and Windsor games this week but Davo is still serving that harsh three-match ban.

We are down to the bare bones now, but we will keep battling away.
