IT WAS a strange day and I suppose we should take heart from the fact that we have won 4-1 while having an off day.

For the last 20 minutes of the first half and the first 20 of the second we were awful.

Apart from the two early goals, the first 45 minutes was about the worst half of football I have seen since coming back.

We were giving away far to many free kicks and putting ourselves under unnecessary pressure.

We just wanted to get them in at half-time 2-0 up, but in the dressing room they were all a bit vacant. Maybe the brilliant win at Beaconsfield on Monday had taken a lot out of them.

I know Griff got two goals, but I have seen him play a lot better, too, He has exceptional ability and one of the reasons we wanted him back at the club was because he is one of the few players who, when they have the ball on the edge of the box, will get you on the edge of your seat.

Mind you, we had plenty of injury issues. Craig Curtis had to come off just before half-time with an ankle injury which will keep him out for weeks.

Carl Brown aggravated the knee problem he had at Beaconsfield and he will miss games now as well.

Jamie Reid wasn’t happy in the warm-up with a problem at the top of his hamstring and when he went down as if he was shot late on in the first half, I thought we were in trouble.

We kept him moving through the interval and he worked his way through it, while Shaun Wimble woke up with a stiff neck on Saturday morning and that seemed to get worse. He did well to play at all.

In the mood they are in at the moment, though, they want to play every day and I am much happier about playing Bridgwater on Tuesday night than I would have been when the match was originally scheduled in November.

Having said that, there will have to be a few changes and, of course, the weather will play its part.

I want to keep to the same 4-5-1 formation and Davo will almost certainly move to his more natural right side, but the left side is going to be difficult to fill.

We will see how it goes, but we can always move quickly to 4-4-2.

At least the Hartpury boys don’t have a game this week so they are all available.

The form we are in, I just want us to keep accumulating points. I don’t want our season to be over at the end of March – I want us to have a right go.
