THE result was a shock to everyone, but I am hoping the players use it as a positive.
We have scored four goals in two games which might normally be enough to earn us six points.
We started okay and got a goal in front, but I have said all along that if you drop your game in this league, you will be punished.
Truro have some very talented individuals and, of course, the four signings they have all have league experience. However, I think we will play better teams this season.
For me, two incidents turned the game.
No keeper in the world is going to save their first goal (Scott Walker’s free-kick) but I was shocked by our reaction.
It is not as if that put Truro 5-0 up. All it did was put them level so why did it rock us so much? And then there was the penalty save from Matt Williams.
Had we been able to go in 3-3 at half-time then our job would have been to settle them down and concentrate on just winning the second half.
All it did was settle into one-way traffic from Truro.
No way was it a disgrace. We did a lot of good defending of crosses, but we were punished for individual errors for which the keeper and the defenders have to take responsibility.
Maybe we missed Thorney at the back, as he is a talker and we needed his organisation.
Gong forward, though, we look a threat, some of our build-up play was good, so I am not going to panic. I will be looking for a reaction on Saturday and I expect to get it.
Everyone has left themselves open to losing their place.
With Andy Robertson unavailable, there will be a chance for either Harry Etheridge or Rob Dean to step up to the plate.
And, if he comes through training on Thursday, it is possible that Steve Robertson could play a part.
Steve has been suffering from shingles and because of the medication he has been on, he couldn’t be around the other players for the Uxbridge game.
We have done a lot of research and taken advice from a Premier League and he was well enough to be on the bench on Tuesday, although I was loathe to use him because he hadn’t trained.
