Frampton-on-Severn 1st X v Cirencester 1st XI CIRENCESTER won by an impressive margin of 68 runs against a disorganised Frampton side to record their first league win of the season.
Asked to bat, Town started cautiously. New opening pair Dan Hudson and Nick Rutter, against some tight bowling struggled early on and did well to grind out a useful opening partnership of 42 until the latter fell for 27.
Undaunted, Hudson then produced the innings of the day. He was watchful in defence but quick to take runs when offered them and grafted his maiden first-XI 50 until sacrificing his wicket late on in a quest for extra points.
Hudson's anchor role allowed Town to reach a score of 175-8, the extra batting point being secured off the last ball after some spirited running between the wickets from the tail. Reynolds, Robins and Gray all provided useful support in the middle order.
The opening attack of Moore and Waters both made full use of a helpful track, aided by some sharp ground fielding which made runs hard to come by.
This early pressure brought Moore two early wickets and the pair could well have run through the top order with a little good fortune. Rutter's bowling changes had an immediate effect as 17-year-old Denyer produced some unplayable deliveries in a return of 2-12 .
The introduction of Moreing produced more miserly figures of 3-32.
Frampton were reduced to 76-8 before 15-year-old Cayless played some adventurous shots to go past the 100 mark, before the returning Waters brought the innings to a close on 107.
