Gillman Salver
HIGH handicapper Dave Goodall and Jerry Homan-Green, who plays off 5, lifted the prestigious Gillman Salver.
They came in with a better ball score of 63, off 90 percent of their handicaps, and edged the trophy on countback from Terry Hambling & Pete Crawford, as well as Alan Hughes & Pete Shepherd, both pairs matching the score of 63.
Former South Cerney club champion Homan-Green laid the foundations over the early holes, including an opening birdie, before 28 handicapper Goodall made good use of his two-shots-a-hole through the middle of the round.
Homan-Green ended strongly with birdies on the 13th and the long 17th.
Crawford, off 20, was the rock of his partnership with Hambling, and his four pars in five holes during the middle of the round - including threes on the 9th, 11th and 13th - were a fine effort.
Hughes and Shepherd will rue the triple bogey 8 on the 12th which scarred an otherwise excellent card.
Six further teams posted nett 65, while ex-Ciren champion Chris Nevin gained two of the eight birdie twos scored.
