GLOUCESTERSHIRE Over 50s will make a second attempt to play their ECB Over 50 County Championship quarter-final against Leicestershire & Rutland on Sunday, August 19.

Rain forced the tie, originally scheduled to be held at Rockhampton on Saturday, August 11, to be called off, and it will now take place at Redmarley, kicking off at 1pm.

Jem Brooks’ side booked a home tie thanks to a 121-run victory over Huntingdonshire in the last 16 at Frocester, making it eight out of eight for the season.

Ed Gordon-Lennox (80), Bill Johnson (51 not) and Hugh Leeke (43) top scored in the home side’s challenge of 253-7 before spinner John Courtney, with 4-30 from nine and seamer Chris Trembath, with 4-22 from 7.5 dismissed Huntingdonshire for just 132.

In reaching the knockout stages, Gloucestershire topped group four winning seven games out of seven, overcoming the likes of Shropshire, Oxfordshire, Staffordshire and Warwickshire.
