IN THE Porsche Centre Solihull Championship Arena 2, Angela Thompson made the National Grade C Championship her own.
She jumped into the lead riding Eleri Perry’s Fremont VDL, as well as securing second place with Cornet Obolensky Junior.
Angela and her husband spotted the now-eight-year-old Fremont VDL, known as Monty, when they saw a video of him as an unbroken three-year-old.
“We purchased him from Jennifer Thompson’s Vecthom Sporthorses and produced him from the start,” they said.
“We sold him to Eleri Perry for her son Dylan who has just come off ponies.
“Monty goes very well for Dylan and they have been doing some 1.30m classes. We’ve ended up sharing Monty and it’s worked out very well.
“He is a brave and scopey horse, as well as being kind and rideable so he has become a real yard-favourite.”
Cornet Obolensky Junior’s proud owner Georgina Round was there to witness her horse’s success.
She commented: “He had only done a couple of 1.10m classes before I asked Angela to ride him last year and he has gone absolutely brilliant for her.
“He is a typical Cornet Obolensky product; a lovely jumper but has his quirky ways.”
A delighted Angela expained: “He is a fast horse, but we decided to aim for a sensible double clear and it paid off.
“My groom Frankie has done a great job getting both of them ready. They are looking fantastic.
“We’re only 40min away from Stoneleigh in Chipping Campden and Fremont VDL definitely likes it here because he won his qualifier for HOYS here last year too.
“After the British Horse Feeds Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C qualifier, it’s onto the Pembrokeshire County Show.”
