Gloucestershire 174-6
Surrey 169-7
Gloucestershire confirmed their place in the quarter-finals of the T20 Vitality Blast with a five run victory over Surrey at the Bristol County Ground yesterday.
David Payne and Benny Howell both took three wickets each while Kieran Noema-Barnett was 57 not-out, equalling his career best T20 score.
Gareth Roderick was also crucially in the final over. He was 14 not out and hit the last ball for six to see Gloucestershire to 174.
It proved to be a tense affair for the hosts. Surrey needed 34 runs in the final five overs to snatch victory. Up stepped Howell who dispatched of Rikki Clarke who’d scored 35 and Freddie van den Bergh in the same over.
Payne then bowled Ben Foakes in the 19th over who was on 59 but it still went to the final delivery but Morne Morkel could only muster one run when six was required to level things up.
Gloucestershire play Sussex Sharks at home tomorrow at 6.30pm.
