SWINDON Town suffered their first league defeat of the season after they were thumped by Lincoln City.

Goals from John Akinde, Michael Bostwick, Harry Toffolo and Matt Green compounded a miserable afternoon for Phil Brown's side.

Michael Doughty gave Swindon hope just before half time with his fourth goal in two games but it proved to be in vain.

The Robins fell behind 10 minutes in after Keshi Anderson conceded a penalty when he brought down Harry Anderson and Akinde showed good composure to slot home the penalty.

Lincoln were 2-0 up after half an hour when Bostwick poked the ball into the net after a goal mouth scramble from a corner.

Town were given a lifeline just before half time when they were awarded a penalty of their own when Scott Wharton was penalised for handball and Doughty converted the penalty.

Swindon responded well in the second half but couldn't take their chances and they were punished in the last 10 minutes when Swindon scored twice through Toffolo and Green.

It's eight goals conceded in four days for Brown's side following their defeat to Chelsea.
