QPR 3-2 Swindon Town

Swindon Town ended their pre-season campaign with defeat in a behind closed doors friendly at Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday. (July 31)

Jermaine McGlashan and teenager Scott Twine scored for the Robins at Harlington. Both side made a host of changes, not risking their strongest line-ups days before the start of the season.

Rangers took the lead 13 minutes in when Ilias chair teed up Smyth who fired in a powerful shot past Lawrence Vigouroux from 20 yards out.

Swindon equalised on 36 minutes when McGlashan, who joined from Southend United, was found in space on the right and had time to guide the ball into the back of the net.

They weren’t level for long as QPR regained the lead four minutes later when Sylla skipped his way into the shot and slotted the ball under Vigouroux’s body.

Phil Brown changed the entire team for the second half but it was the hosts who extended the lead on 72 minutes when Wheeler was played in behind by Charlie Cox’s long ball and he placed the ball into the net. Twine scored a consolation goal with eight minutes left but QPR held on.

On Saturday, Swindon came from behind to emerge 4-1 victors at Swindon Supermarine. Scott Twine scored twice while an own goal and a Michael Doughty strike sealed the win for Brown's team.
