Gloucestershire County Cricket club needed a last ball finish to claim their second win in the Vitality T20 Blast against Kent at the Brightside Ground yesterday.

Kent were seven runs off the target with two balls left but Jack Taylor's superb throw ran out Sean Dickson which left Mitchell Claydon to hit Ryan Higgins' last ball for six, and when he missed Gloucestershire became the first team this season to beat the Royal London Cup finalists at the Brightside Ground.

Gloucestershire made two changes to the team that won at Uxbridge on Sunday with Kieran Noema-Barnett and Graham van Buuren coming in for Thisara Perera and Benny Howell, ending Howell's run of 66 consecutive matches in the competition.

Kent won the toss and decided to field. Jack Taylor was the highest scorer finishing 42 not out while Higgins and Ian Cockbain chipped in with 22 and 29 respectively as Gloucestershire finished with 184-7 was enough to set Kent a tough enough challenge.

Kent made a slow start to their innings, losing Joe Denly in the second over to Van Buuren, scoring just five runs.

The visitors improved and found themselves 102-5 in the 13th over. Heino Kuhn, remained until Noema-Barnett, with his first ball, clung on to a return catch. His departure for 44, Kent's highest scorer, appeared to leave Gloucestershire with plenty of runs in the bank.

Kent needed 65 from the last five overs and took 31 off the first two throw the cat amongst the pigeons. It took a smart piece of fielding by Higgins to run out Haggett for 20 at the non strikers end in the 18th over.

Dickson, got it down to 19 from the last over with the help of Milne, and the New Zealander's two boundaries off Higgins set up a nail biting finish before Jack Taylor's accurate throw gave Gloucestershire just enough leeway from the final ball.

Gloucestershire's next Vitality Blast match is against Somerset at the Brightside Ground on Friday, July 13.
