His was the first of three club age group wins with members in search of points towards the Gloucestershire Road Race Championships which led to Kate Sackett and Barbara Thomas both competing in three events in three days.

Martin Croucher and Howard Ewan formed a highly successful mini team to tackle the Worcester Marathon running together from start to finish - despite the heat – in three hours 50 minutes to cross the line in 36th and 37th places.
Howard succeeded in banishing several distance running gremlins setting a good, steady pace from the start. While Martin’s stamina (in his last marathon before the coming 56 miles of The Comrades Race in RSA) enabled him to hold the pace and so for both to complete with a negative split.
