AMBITIOUS Forest Green chairman Dale Vince insists his side are heading for the Championship after securing a second season of League Two football.

Mark Cooper’s side found the point they needed to stay up in a dour 0-0 draw at Yeovil Town last night and Vince is convinced Rovers are on the up.

"We are heading for the Championship and we have learned a lot during our first year in the Football League.

"We still think we are capable of getting out of this division and into League One next year, why not?" Vince said.

Vince and Cooper have earmarked a head of recruitment, and interviews are set to start next week.

Vince added: "We are now recruiting for a head of recruitment. We have a meeting about it next week and we already have a few candidates in mind.

"It’s all part of every season putting in a better infrastructure in some aspect of the club; now it's recruitment.”

Rovers currently use former Southampton defender Richard Dryden as chief scout, the former Premier League star was Cooper’s assistant manager at Notts County.

"Up until now the manager (Mark Cooper) has done most of it, watching the games he can and we also have one scout (Richard Dryden).

"That will get better because we will now will cast our net wider and see more potential players than we can at the moment and it's all about becoming more professional."
