Bourton Rovers 6

Faringdon Town 0

CHRIS COOPER spanked a hat-trick as Bourton hit Farringdon for six.

Rovers opened the scoring through Connor Teague after some excellent work in the centre of the park. The first-half closed with Bourton 3-0 up.

The second-half started with Bourton making two changes and Cooper moving into a centre forward role. Cooper added to his first-half strike with an excellent header and his second goal was closely followed by his third.

Rovers travel to Clanfield Res on Monday, 7.45pm.

Manager Scott Powles was delighted with his teams reaction to Thursday night's cup final defeat. “We had to react well, we owed it to our amazing supporters. We let them down on Thursday as we didn’t play anyway near our potential. Not taking anything away from well deserved winners Cam Bulldogs, but we needed a response today and we got it. We are still in the title race, and we must continue to apply pressure as a slip up by Newent Town and Moreton Rangers would let us back in it."

BOURTON made the trip to Middle Barton on the back of their fantastic cup semi-final on Wednesday night, knowing that a win would keep the pressure on the leading pack.

The game started with Bourton applying pressure straight away, captain Ben Mcphilimey put Rovers in front with a well taken goal after some fine work from Adam Webbley.

Webbley was pulling the strings in the centre of the park alongside the impressive Harry Larner. Bourton never looked in danger, and should have gone in at half-time with more of a lead.

The second-half was much the same as the first, Bourton creating all the chances, Webbley went close with two free-kicks that the keeper managed to tip on to the bar.

The defence held firm, with a man-of-the-match performance from Keelan Gilbert.

Rovers face promotion rivals Moreton Rangers in their next game.
