What a stirring game! What a stunning result!!

At last the travelling Forest Green fans had something to shout about and shout they certainly did.

For us all it was a wonderful day out. Manager Mark Cooper deserves full marks for his tactical acumen. His team changes seemed puzzling, but as the game progressed it became obvious everyone was justified .

Gavin Gunning was immense in midfield and Reece Brown buzzed with flair and skill. It was significant he was involved in the crucial sting, making a key pass to Rueben Reid who set Christian Doidge free. Our Lord High Executioner did the rest. It was the goal of the season both in style and significance.

Cheltenham huffed and puffed, but did not have an answer. To break down the Rovers defence a quality was needed that Cheltenham did not have.

After the manager was calm and composed when he could have been exultant. Backroom-staff were praised as of course were the players. All had responded magnificently.

Man-of-the-match was a difficult decision. Should it be given to the players collectively or perhaps the manager himself? In an unusual decision I am awarding it to referee Ollie Yates, who let the game flow. Using his common sense he quickly won the respect of the crowd and players alike.

I close by pointing out one vital statistic . This season FGR have played Cheltenham three times, winning two and drawing one. To add anything else would be gloating.
