Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League Purton....................................................... 4
Shrewton Utd..............................................1
PURTON romped to a 4-1 win over high-flying Shrewton United at the Red House, writes Alan Eastwood.
Purton took the lead after 10 minutes, with Sam English heading home from a corner.
A second followed after 30 minutes, Will Backhouse netting after an Avery effort was palmed out by the Shrewton keeper.
Purton continued to control proceedings, but a mistake on 36 minutes gifted Jesse Walter a Shrewton goal.
Two minutes later Purton went 3-1 up, Chris Avery followed by a Jack Duckers strike.
Purton keeper Luke Kuzynski made two good saves after the break, while Purton wasted three decent chances to increase their lead, but an excellent victory over a side well in with a chance of winning the league along with Melksham Town Reserves and Cricklade Town.
