SPARKLING golf from two 15-handicappers Joe Pelser and Andy Bradley was the highlight of the first monthly medal of the season played in very difficult conditions at Cirencester Golf Club on Saturday (March 17).

A wind chill factor taking the temperature well below zero hampered the vast majority of the field but not Pelser and Bradley who both shot net 67s, with relatively new member Joe posting his best competition score to edge it on count-back.

In-form Bradley was thus denied back-to back wins having collected the latest Winter Mixed Stableford, while Pelser’s birdies on holes 4 and 6 laid the foundations for his victory.

Mark Jameson posted the lowest gross score of 76 off his 6 handicap to fill third place overall.

Just seven birdie twos were recorded in the very windy conditions so special praise is due to Lewis Flett who bagged two of them.

Hole 2 – Lewis Flett, James Harding; Hole 9 – Phil Smith; Hole 11 – Lewis Flett, Ian Jones; Hole 13 – Paul Simmonds; Hole 18 – Steve Sweet.
