Bourton Rovers 5

Carterton 2

IN-FORM Bourton kept up their title push with an emphatic victory over Carterton.

Earlier, Rovers made a handful of changes with Connor Glynn starting in attack alongside Jake Oakey and in-form Josh Fielding.

Rovers created early chances and in the 22nd-minute they were rewarded when Danny Way drilled home the opener from 25 yards.

Rovers continued to pile on the pressure and in the 30th minute Keegan Bowes tapped home from close range after good work by Fielding in the Carterton penalty area.

Bourton were playing some excellent attacking football and the third goal came a couple of minutes later from the penalty spot after Chris Mills was brought down. Leading scorer Fielding stepped up and calmly slotted the ball home.

Carterton pulled on back just before half-time.

The second-half started with Rovers again playing some attractive football. Danny Way and Chris Cooper were pulling the strings in midfield and allowing Rovers front four to express themselves.

Rovers scored their fourth goal in the 58th minute when Keegan Bowes latched onto a through ball and drilled the ball into the bottom corner.

Carterton again pulled one back, this time from the penalty spot after a clumsy tackle from Jake Forster.

Rovers grabbed their fifth and final goal when Fielding scored his second of the day from close range.

Manager Scott Powles was impressed with the attacking football his team played and has demanded they build on recent good form. He also congratulated the ground staff for having the pitch in good playing condition, considering recent poor weather.

Rovers travel to Faringdon on Saturday and will welcome Adam Webley, Sam Tyack and Sam Mattock back into the match day squad.
