MENTION beach towels to Reuben Reid and he would probably kick sand in your face.

Forest Green sit seven points above the drop zone with 10 games to go and Reid is far from complacent ahead of the run in.

“To be honest, I would rather be going for something,” said Reid.

“Some teams must be thinking about their holidays, but I think it’s good to feel on edge, the minute you start thinking we have cracked it, that’s when you can get stung."

And Reid sees no reason why Rovers can’t go to leaders Accrington Stanley tomorrow and upset the form book.

Despite 19 places separating the two sides in the League Two table, Accrington and FGR were the two in-form in the division in February.

With that in mind and having pushed Notts County all the way last time out, Reid says his teammates must head to the Wham Stadium in confident mood.

“Accrington have got the number one spot at the moment and they will be trying their hardest to win the game, likewise, we’re fighting for the points,” he said.

“Any followers of League Two will know that anybody on their given day can turn over anybody and we’re more than capable of producing a performance that can take three points.

“It doesn’t get any easier. Where they are placed and where we are placed, it looks like they will be odds-on favourites but we’ve got to be confident that we can go up there and put a performance that will enable us to get a result.”

Accrington boast the top goal scorer in the division in Billy Kee, who has 21 league goals to his name already.

He is a player that Reid has admired from afar and knows his side’s defence will have to be alert to his threat.

“I’ve played with him from the level above down to League Two and he has been a consistent performer and is probably one of my favourite players,” he added.

“He is a well-rounded player for this level and is a very big part of what they do.”

Meanwhile, FGR will be without their own top scorer in Christian Doidge for a second game with an ankle injury.

However, Reid is feeling no added pressure leading the line and was delighted for fellow strike partner Tahvon Campbell who came off the bench last weekend to score.

“Whoever is playing out on the pitch, there is always a pressure on me from a personal point of view,” Reid explained.

“I’m not going to say because Doidgey is out I have got to step up, I’m always trying to step up.

“At this current time there is a shirt that has become available and it’s given someone the opportunity to get themselves in there and try and keep hold of it.”

Opportunity may knock for West Brom loanee Tahvon Campbell who made a stunning impact in the 2-1 home defeat to Notts County, scoring off the bench and hitting the bar.

Reid said: “Tav is a kid I really like and I really rate as a footballer.

“I’ve been Tav before, you come on loan to a club and you want your minutes to prove to the world how good you are, you know it’s in you but you can’t get on the pitch.

“Hopefully on Saturday he put a massive spanner in the works in the manager’s brain because from my point of view, he is going to be an asset for this football club.”
