I was able to watch in-form Cirencester Town play Bideford. It was a cracking game which saw a brace for Allan Griffin in a 2-1 victory.

Charlie Griffin has assembled a talented side who are making a real fist of getting into the play-offs.

The match marked a farewell game for Australia-bound Ellis Dunton. He has been a true warrior for the Town club for several years and will be pleased to leave the team in such good heart. My visit was a delight from start-to-finish. I shall go whenever I can, and advise all of you to do the same.

I must go on holiday more often! The minute I got to foreign shores Rovers started winning.

Being jet-lagged it was not wise to go to Morecambe on Saturday when another valuable point was earned.

Manager Mark Cooper has remodelled his side wisely and well. We may achieve the aim of every FGR supporter and finish above Cheltenham.

Despite a well prepared bid, Bristol has missed out as a venue for the much-heralded T20 competition. The heart of first-class cricket is still county-based. This clearly demonstrated by visiting Chelmsford, Canterbury, Hove, Taunton, Worcester, Scarborough or our own beloved Cheltenham. These grounds will stage no meaningful cricket in midsummer when this T20 monstrosity will dominate. The County Championship will be further marginalised. I am told this new competitor will create a new audience. My fears are for the current audience. We look like being short changed.
