Gloucestershire Senior Cup

Quarter-Final

Charlton Rovers 0

Bourton Rovers FC 1

BOURTON made it into the semi-finals with a narrow victory over Charlton Rovers.

In-form Bourton were in good spirits after last week's comeback against top-of-the-table Newent Town in Hellenic Division Two West.

Bourton were missing captain Craig Gilson and Dan Smith. However, in the eighth-minute Jake Forster received his second yellow card after a clumsy tackle. Bourton changed things quickly and Danny Way and Sam Tyack took a grip of the middle of the park along with man-of-the-match Keegan Bowes.

Bourton were rewarded on thirty minutes when Connor Teague flicked onto Josh Fielding who latched onto the throw ball and calmly slotted the ball past the keeper.

Both teams came out for the second half with real energy and purpose. Bourton still looked dangerous on the break but Charlton were now applying a lot of pressure to Bourton’s backline. Charlton came close on a couple of occasions but Kevin Goodwill pulled off two quality saves. Captain for the day Phil Colmer continued to organise Bourton’s defence throughout and Bourton managed to see out a tricky last ten minutes.

Bourton’s manager Scott Powles was delighted with his team performance and praised every player for their unbelievable character and drive to win against a quality team.

Bourton face Shortwood Utd Res at home this coming Saturday (1.45pm KO) in The Bluefin Hellenic Supplementary Cup.

Bourton reserves beat top of the table Kingham 2-1 on Saturday in the Witney and District League, maintaining the pressure on Kingham and second-place Moreton.
