Binfield 3 Fairford Town 2

FAIRFORD Town went down to a 3-2 defeat at Binfield on Saturday.

Veteran striker Ian Davies scored his 150th goal in Binfield colours to secure the win.

Fairford produced a spirited second half display including a goal from debutant Conor Lynch, but were unable to take a share of the spoils.

The visitors returned to action after a two-week day lay-off and made changes to the line-up, with striker Liam Gale and Martin Hall included in the starting eleven, whilst new loan signing from Hungerford – Conor Lynch – was named on the bench.

The hosts, who went into the game in sixth, made a fast start and were 2-0 up inside the half hour. Josh Howell struck first to open the scoring before Will Shaw doubled the advantage.

The scoreline remained the same until just after the hour and with Fairford looking more dangerous after the break, Jody Bevan’s men got back into the game. A loose ball back to the ‘keeper was intercepted by Gale who rounded Henry Craven in the Binfield goal to make it 2-1 with 64 minutes played.

Loan striker Lynch was then introduced for his Fairford Town debut, having joined the Reds having scored nine goals in 15 games for Letcombe.

Fairford were then back on level terms with 15 minutes remaining as debutant Lynch grabbed his first goal for the club.

However, the visitors grabbed the points thanks to veteran striker Ian Davies, who notched his 150th goal in Binfield colours – with his 11th in 18 games proving the difference.

Fairford are at home to Abingdon United on Boxing Day.
