Blunsdon 6
Sherborne Harriers 1
BLUNSDON ended their mini-slump of two straight defeats with a convincing victory over struggling Sherborne Harriers at Sutton Park on Saturday.
On about 15 minutes, Ben Phillips beat the offside trap and then the keeper in a one-on-one to make it 1-0.
Blunsdon continued to apply pressure and were soon 3-0 up after a double strike from Alex Waner; his second goal was a beautiful left-footed curling shot from the edge of the box.
Almost on half-time, and against the run of play, Sherborne beat stand-in keeper Jake Dowdell with a good finish.
Blunsdon increased the lead on the hour when a well taken Tom Collins corner was headed home at the front post by Lewis Morland.
Soon afterwards Blunsdon won a penalty and Kane Wheatley struck his spot kick well but the Sherborne keeper made a strong two-handed save, pushing the ball away for a corner.
In the last 15 minutes, Blunsdon put the game to bed. A brilliant left-footed strike from the edge of the box by Jake Bailey made it 5-1.
The sixth goal was a nice team effort with some good build-up play finished off by a Morland header from a lovely Harry Portlock cross.
