Hatherop 3
Oaksey 1
FOR the fourth week in a row Oaksey faced an unbeaten side in Hatherop and though going down 3-1 they put up a superb effort against one the division's leading sides, writes Pete Roach.
Oaksey made their intentions clear as early as the third minute when Oaksey striker Tim Fry placed a shot just wide of the post.
Oaksey, boosted by the arrival of a number of signings last week from Minety FC, including goalie Andy Baker, produced some fine play and kept Hatherop on their toes for the whole of the first half.
Oaksey got the opening goal when new signing Corey Cullen robbed the Hatherop keeper in his area before slotting the ball home.
Hatherop upped their game and hit back with two goals before half-time.
Oaksey have previously faded in the second half of games but the injection of new blood seemed to energise them and they kept testing Hatherop throughout.
Finally, after a string of terrific saves from Baker, Hatherop got the breakthrough when a loose pass was directed into the path of their striker who finished calmly to complete the scoring.
