Wilts Junior Cup 2nd Round
Redlynch & Woodfalls United 2
Blunsdon 1

BLUNSDON suffered their first defeat of the season when put out of the Wilts County Cup after a long trip to Salisbury side Redlynch and Woodfalls United.

From the first whistle R&W had Blunsdon on the back foot and soon hit the bar.

Blunsdon got stuck in but couldn’t find any rhythm and were pretty much pinned back in their own half.

Against the run of play Blunsdon did fashion a chance for Lee Toomey whose shot was saved with the follow-up by Franklin Murray hitting the outside of the post.

Again Toomey went close after outstripping the R&W defence only to curl his shot agonisingly wide.

R&W soon regained their dominance and went 1-0 up from the penalty spot.

Again the gritty Blunsdon side soaked up the pressure before equalising with the goal of the game – a sensational 25-yard strike from Jake Bailey after he had beaten two defenders.

Despite improvement from Blunsdon after the interval, R&W were still creating the better chances and took the lead again after a mix-up between keeper Dan Butler and defender Lewis Morland.

This setback took the wind out of Blunsdon’s sails and they failed to muster any promising attacks thereafter with R&W finishing the game on top.
