THE Stratton Youth U9s played their first home match of the season in a cup tie with Wanborough Wasps.

The pitch was in fantastic condition but unfortunately some of the U9s were struggling from the effects of various illnesses. This showed in the first two quarters as they looked lethargic and allowed Wanborough to take the lead.

After an error at the back Wanborough scored their third which seemed to spark the U9s into action.

Arthur Quili moved into midfield and his interceptions helped create chances for his team-mates.

Idris Thomas-Jones displayed great vision with his passing and Fin Stratford scored two brilliant goals. Despite a frenetic finish the U9s couldn’t quite get the goal they needed to take it to extra time.

It was a fine game that entertained the crowd and both teams should be pleased with their performance.

Player of the Match: Fin Stratford.

A SPECTACULAR game for the U10s this week versus Robins. End-to-end action from determined players on both sides resulted in little splitting the two teams. Congratulations to Jack Miller who scored a wonder goal and Luke Baker for MoM.

THE Stratton U8s continue their great run with another fantastic performance, including an array of goals from Archie Miller, Leo Scott and Woody Whitehead.  George Latimer was awarded MoM for a strong defensive contribution.
