Cirencester Golf Club
Jubilee Cup

THE Jubilee Cup is Cirencester Golf Club’s only ‘individual bogey’ competition of the season.

It is a prestigious tournament and counts towards the season-long Victor Ludorum series. Essentially, members are in a matchplay situation against the course.

A net birdie or better wins you the hole (+1); a net par is a half (0) and a net bogey or worse is a loss (-1). The wins/losses are then counted up at the end.

There was some exceptional scoring by the two leaders with Mark Pope, off his 23 handicap, beating the course by 8up to lift the cup.

But spare a thought for Malmesbury Victoria Football Club captain George Peare who was runner-up and the only single figure golfer in the top six.

George birdied three of the first five holes and shot a par 70 off his 7 handicap to finish 7up.

The top two were followed home, at a distance, by Andrew Bradley (3up), Richard Hopegood (3up), Luke Risby (2up) and Paul Daniel (2up).

Ron Card Tankards

IT was a second win in recent weeks for Pope who was in the winning three-ball for the Ron Card Tankards.

This bowmaker stableford competition was won by Adrian Ruskell, Jack Bastow and Pope with a score of 86 points.

They were two points clear of runners-up Thomas Gavan, David Stratton and James Stratton.

In third place were the in-form trio of Chris Pollard, Andrew Bradley and Adam Collins on 83.

Midweek Medal

THE Midweek Medal on Tuesday was won by Mathew Vines with a net 67.

That left him two shots clear of Johan Pelser (69) who beat Dan Gregory (69) on countback and was credited as the Division One winner.

In fourth place was Roger Noone (71) and club champion Gerry Coetzee shot the lowest gross score of 70 for fifth place.
