Stratton Youth FC round-up
Malmesbury U18s 2 Stratton Youth U18s 1

ANOTHER good performance but another narrow defeat for the Stratton U18s who went down 2-1 at Malmesbury.

Stratton started brightly and went ahead after 10 minutes. Sam Brewster’s neat footwork on the right touchline created space and he put in a superb early cross for Tom Pudifoot to side foot home.

Minutes later Stratton thought they had a second when Pudifoot crossed for Chalmers Phin to round the keeper and score, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Malmesbury came more into the game with Meichal Wright making some good stops and with 15 minutes remaining the hosts equalised following a spell of pressure. Five minutes later they scored again in a goalmouth scramble following a corner.

Stratton always felt they had chances against a nervy home goalkeeper and they pressed for an equaliser but Malmesbury held out. MoM: Tom Price.

Stratton U15s 5 Abbey Mead Colts 7

STRATTON dominated the early stages of the game, piling the pressure on Abbey Meads but failing to find the net on several occasions.

Finally, on 12 minutes, a Harvey Biggs through ball found Harvey McCullie who finished with a fine strike.

Abbey Meads struck back on 19 minutes when a good break caught the Stratton defence too far forward while on the attack.

James Wickett put Stratton back in front on 22 minutes with a back-heel from a Josh Littler-Jennings corner.

Still dominating most of the play, Stratton scored again through Wickett on 25 minutes.

From the restart Abbey Meads came back immediately with a scorching shot from their striker on the edge of the box finding the net, to leave the half-time score 3-2 to Stratton.

Abbey Meads scored two quick goals on 46 and 48 minutes to take the lead. On 52 minutes, with almost his first touch of the ball, sub Jake Halford lobbed the keeper to level the scores with his debut goal for the club.

A tense game then saw Abbey Meads take the lead again on 60 minutes, but nine minutes later McCullie fired home his second goal with a fine volley to level the scores once more.

The visitors scored two quick goals in the last minutes of the game to give them the win in a very high scoring game.

Stratton's MoM was James Wickett for his outstanding work rate in midfield.

Ferndale U12s 6 Stratton Youth U12s 0

ALTHOUGH Stratton suffered another defeat the visitors put in a better performance, and once one or two of the new players settle in, the results will improve. MoM: Jacob Ryan.

Mini section

STRATTON U10s had a great performance against an extremely strong Salisbury team. There were goals from Tom Foley and Jaden Mullis and a well deserved MoM for James Bassett for his outstanding contribution in goal.

The U9s performed excellently against Swindon Supermarine Red U9s in their first-ever seven-a-side league fixture.

While there were a number of excellent displays of dribbling the team looked at its best when they moved the ball into space for their team-mates to run onto. There were some great passing exchanges by the team that led to some good goals, while Idris Thomas-Jones marshalled the defence superbly and it was great to hear him continually encouraging everyone around him.

Player of the match was shared between Archie Walker and debutant Ben Seakins.

Goalscorers: Louis Kingsbury (3), Fin Stratford (2), Sam Potter (2) and Jack Cummins.

The Stratton U8s enjoyed a great start to the season with an away game at Ashton Keynes. All players in the U8s gave their best resulting in goals from Xavier Elderby-Harris, Leo Scott, Liam Smith, Frank Ward and Woody Whitehead. Archie Miller had an outstanding game especially the period he spent in goal.
