Helvellyn Triathlon

MARIANNE and Daniel Badger of North Cotswold Tri & Run took on the Helvellyn Triathlon, advertised as one of the toughest triathlons in the world.

The 1.6km open water swim was in the crystal clear water of Ullswater, the 38-mile cycle ride included a 1,489ft climb to the top of the Kirkstone Pass and the nine-mile run was up and down Helvellyn with 3,118ft of climb. Daniel was very pleased to finish in a time of 4:34.42 and Marianne would have got the same time had she not incurred a five-minute transition penalty making her final finishing time 4:39.24.

They both found the event a fantastic experience and great training for upcoming events.
