CIRENCESTER head pro Ed Goodwin, recent winner of the Marston's Matchplay title, could not reproduce that form in the PGA West Region's Pro-Am at Minchinhampton (New) last week.

Goodwin, who had come through four matches to take the prestigious Gloucestershire & Somerset crown, could shoot only a two-over-par 72 around Minchinhampton’s Avening course.

That proved no match for Newport pro Richard Dinsdale who continued his great success this summer with a flawless five-under-par return of 65 Dinsdale had also won the Bowood Pro-Am two weeks earlier.

South Cerney's Greg Davies was the pick of the local golfers with a share of seventh thanks to his 69.
