GLOUCESTERSHIRE’S Australian star Michael Klinger has slammed his side after a poor performance in their T20 Blast clash with Middlesex on Tuesday.

They replied to Middlesex’s 161-5 but did not get hardly two-thirds to of the way to their target before the home side bowled them out.

Gloucestershire scored just a hundred and were skittled out in just under 16 overs. Benny Howell was the highest scorer for the team with 34, while Jack Taylor struck 31.

However, the rest of the side did very little, with opener Klinger himself being caught out for a duck after just two balls of the innings.

Although, Gloucestershire are now bottom but one of their group, they are tied with five other teams above them and still in with a chance of qualification to the knock-out stages depending on results.

But Klinger was not happy after their fifth loss of the campaign, saying: “It was not a good enough batting performance. We bowled and fielded really well in the first-half to keep their score down on a fast ground. But our batting let us down.

“The guys haven’t got going in the last few games. We haven’t got enough significant scores from our top seven, and in particular our top four to set it up.”
