LAURA and Jenny Eales from Somerford Keynes played in the Gloucestershire Ladies tennis team that competed in the 2017 County Week at the end of July.

Playing in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire won promotion from their group, beating teams from North of Scotland, Dorset, Bedfordshire, Wiltshire and Hereford / Worcestershire.

In the event, everyone plays up to 15 doubles matches over the course of the week and the event is played nationally across 13 different grass court venues.

Out of over 350 ladies competing nationally Laura Eales and her partner Alicia Barnett from Painswick, were the only two ladies in the UK to win all fifteen of their doubles matches, repeating an amazing feat which they also achieved in 2014.

Their names will be added to the LTA Roll of Honour and they will receive an award for their achievement at the LTA’s Wimbledon cocktail party next year.

Laura has just graduated from Long Beach State University in California where she was on a tennis scholarship and Alicia is currently playing on the WTA tour, currently ranked in the world’s top 800”
