Poole Pirates 36
Swindon Robins 56

THE Robins battered Poole 56-36 on Wednesday evening to move comfortably into the top four play-off positions.

The side led from heat one making it two wins at Wimborne Road this season.

David Bellego led the way with three wins from five outings, new club asset Tobiasz Musielak shone once more and Jason Doyle took two chequered flags despite still suffering with foot injuries.

Already four points to the good, Bradley Wilson-Dean and Bellego landed a first 5-1 in a re-run of heat three after Pirates team-mates Richie Worrall and Jack Holder had collided in the first attempt.

The seventh race was key as Bellego and Wilson-Dean gated well with Hans Andersen on a tactical. The Frenchman saw through the win for a 4-4 which ended any Poole resistance.

Swindon kept chipping away at the scoreboard and when Adam Ellis won heat 12, victory was confirmed to leave boss Alun Rossiter jubilant.

“We’re delighted,” said Rossiter. “Gaining 20 points from the last 21 is not bad going by anyone's standards.

“Everyone was on it and we were in control from heat one. For the first time in all the years of going down to Poole, we never looked in trouble.”

The introduction of Musielak, who was made a full club asset earlier in the week, has clearly made a difference to the side and added the cream to a team of battlers.

With the three sides above them in the table struggling a bit whose to say that these former basement contenders can't become genuine title hopefuls.
