LOUIS Harvey's longed-for podium finish at the Motors TV Shenington Superprix last weekend on his home track was not to be.

However, there was again ample evidence of the Malmesbury 13-year-old's driving talent.

Having qualified in sixth place on the grid for the final Louis had to settle for a respectable eighth place out of the 30 top drivers, but he suffered a nose-cone penalty which dropped him down the final placings.

Qualifying had gone very well and he improved his placings in each of three heats to finish eighth, 12th and second respectively.

In the final he had moved up a position to fifth by lap two.

On lap four a three-way battle in Stratford's hairpin saw Louis pushed wide and up the bank, dropping him to eighth.

The remainder of the final was about consolidating his good position but as the battling pack entered Café Corner, Louis' front bumper clipped a broken-down kart which in post-race scrutineering earned him a 10-second penalty and a drop to 16th overall.

Louis remains positive and hopes to qualify for the Elite Finals in the up-and-coming MAXXIS TKM Festival at Kimbolton in August.
