Tewkesbury Park 5½ Cirencester 2½
CIRENCESTER Seniors could not make it three wins in a row when they travelled to Tewkesbury Park on Monday, July 11.
They faced a strong Tewkesbury Park team, losing the match by 5½-2½ with a number of players, including the captain, struggling to keep the ball out of the trees.
Congratulations should go to the pairings of David James & Andy Ponting and Ian Perry & Adrian Ruskell who both won their games.
Alan Dymond & Martin Taylor gained an honourable half.
Cirencester 2½ Lilley Brook 3.5
CIRENCESTER seniors endured a double blow when losing at home to Lilley Brook 24 hours later.
The close match was played in appalling weather with heavy rain showers sweeping through periodically.
Well done to all for battling the conditions.
Things were looking good for the home side over the first four matches as at one point they were up in one and all square in the other three.
But Lilley Brook rallied to win two of those games.
The only winning Cirencester pairing was Mike Staples & John Thurston, while halves were recorded by Keith Hodgson & Emrys Williams, Bob Allen & Alan Dymond and David Findlay & David Golding.
