SWINDON Town have made their sixth signing of the summer with Algerian-born Congo international Amine Linganzi joining the club on a free transfer from Portsmouth.

The 27-year-old midfielder follows Chris Robertson, James Dunne, Paul Mullin, Ben Purkiss and Olly Lancashire to the County Ground as new manager David Flitcroft continues to build his squad for the upcoming campaign.

“I’m very happy to be here and it is a great opportunity to play for the best club in League Two,” he told club's official website.

“I’m really happy to have signed for the new manager, he did everything possible to bring me here and I hope we are going to have a successful season.

“The aim is to go to League One and I believe we will be successful this season.

“The manager will give us our identity. League Two is a tough league but when you work hard you get your rewards.”

Linganzi, who won four caps for Congo between 2008 and 2013, began his career at French side Saint-Etienne in 2008 before joining Blackburn Rovers on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

However, the six foot two inch midfielder struggled to break into the first team at Ewood Park making only three appearances, while also having a loan spell at Preston North End where he only played once.

Following the mutual termination of his contract at Blackburn, Linganzi then joined Accrington Stanley in January 2013 on a short term deal before signing for Gillingham the following season.

He spent two years at Priestfield but only managed to make 27 appearances scoring his professional first goal against Crewe Alexandra in March 2014.

The midfielder headed back to France in July 2015 where he joined Championnat National side Etoile Frejus Saint-Raphael before returning to the UK last summer where he signed for Portsmouth.

During his stay at Fratton Park he made 19 appearances helping them to the League Two title and also found the net for the second time in his career during Pompey’s 3-0 win at Carlisle United in February this year.
