Chippenham Longest Day 10k

IT WASN'T just the longest day in June but the hottest day in June for more than 40 years!

But that didn't stop 12 RSE runners competing in the Chippenham Longest Day 10k.

First home for the club was Mark Manley in 43.39, followed by Martin Pitts (51.26), Elaine Chapman (55.11), Sharon Smith (55.11 – 1st FV60), Kirsty Pitts (57.36), Nadine Brown (1:03.16), Tracy Edginton (1:06.04), Sallie Clatworthy (1:08.14), Pauline Tilbury (1:08.56), Amy Breakspear (1:11.55), Tracey Pitts and Caroline Terry (1:17.45).

As one of the challenges for RSE's 10th anniversary celebrations, three of our runners – Nadine Brown, Pauline Tilbury and Kirsty Pitts – were competing in their 10th 10k of the year.

Cotswold Way Relay 2017

SATURDAY saw the 25th annual Cotswold Way Relay. The race started at Chipping Camden and then took the runners along 102 miles of the stunning Cotswold Way before finishing in Bath.

Running Somewhere Else entered two teams of 10 with each completing a leg of the course.

Leg 1 – Henry Church, Kirsty Pitts; Leg 2 – Ben Chapman, Ollie Hazel; Leg 3 – Sharon Smith, John Buck; Leg 4 – Nick Duncan, Stephen Priestnall; Leg 5 – Nadine Brown, Martin Sherriff; Leg 6 – Laurie and Graham Aitchison; Leg 7 – Sallie Clatworthy, Teresa Hazelwood; Leg 8 – Elaine Chapman, Amelia Culshaw; Leg 9 – Dave Witlow, Caroline Coates and Leg 10 – Paul Coates and Richard Marshall.

Team 1 finished in 16:05.45 for 29th overall in the mixed category.

Team 2 finished in 18:05.46 for 56th overall in the mixed category.

Giant's Head Marathon

MATT LAMBOURNE tackled the Giant's Head Marathon in Dorset on Saturday which includes passing the famous Cerne Giant. Matt finished in 4:34.21.

Sherbourne 10k

FIVE RSE runners ran in the challenging multi-terrain Sherbourne 10k on Sunday.

First home for the club was Ollie Hazel, followed by Sharon Smith (55.52 – 1st FV65), Jenny Hoffman (1:07.25), Kate Potter (1:08 – 2nd FV65) and Louise Abbott (1:15).

Cheltenham Race for Life

ELSPETH Murano ran in the Cheltenham Race for Life 10k on Sunday in aid of Cancer Research. The race started at the racecourse and then took the runners through nearby fields, along woodchip paths and finished back at the racecourse.
