Mixed Texas Scramble

A CHARITY Mixed Texas Scramble organised by the ladies’ section to raise funds for CHYP (Cirencester Housing for Young People) was held on Midsummer’s Day, the hottest day of the year so far.

Despite the heat, 40 players from the club completed the course, with the winning team of Danny McDougall, Jackie Nicholls and Martin Harris shooting an impressive net score of 58.9.

The players’ collective achievements, however, were somewhat over-shadowed by the nine servicemen who played 72 holes on the same day at South Cerney, starting at 5.30am, to launch this year’s Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Summer Texas Scramble

ON the following day, the seniors held their own Summer Texas Scramble, and yet again Danny McDougall found himself in the winning team (net 64.6) playing with Eric Roberts and John Harman.

June Medal
THE more serious business of the June Medal saw Cameron Thomson winning Division One with a net score of 66 playing off 17.

Peter Winfield was just one shot further back with 67 playing off 15.

In Division Two, Eric Roberts’ net 68 off 27 was enough to beat Chris Huckle with 70 off 23 into second place.
