Bourton Roadrunners
Humph’s Hilly Half

A TOTAL of 142 runners competed in temperatures that peaked at 28°c at Bourton Roadrunners’ Humph’s Hilly Half Marathon.

There were some impressive times despite the tough conditions. James Bolton from Woodstock Harriers won the race in convincing style with a time of 1hr 15min, with Kieron Summers (Weston AC) second in 1:20 and Richard Walsh (Black Pear Joggers) third in 1:24.

Shona Crombie-Hicks, a former Bourton Roadrunner and now with Cheltenham & County Harriers, led home the women in 1:30, followed by Donna Allen (Hook Norton Harriers) in 1:36, and Kate Krzywiec (North Cotswold Tri & Run) in 1:37.

Both the male and female team prizes were won by Almost Athletes who were well represented in the race.

Two Bourton Roadrunners had strong age-group finishes. Darren Long in (1:41.23) was fifth in the MV45 category and Dave Turnbull (2:13.07) fourth in the MV65s.

Humph’s Hilly Half is run in memory of Steve Humphries, a much-loved member of Bourton Roadrunners and the 100-marathon club. His mother and sister Jan started this year’s race.

The race is sponsored by Hacklings Transport and this year raised funds for Katherine House Hospice. This is in memory of Sue Gore who died last year, and who was very well cared for by them. Her son Rob Gore ran the Hilly Half – his first half marathon – in 1:59 and handed out the prizes.
