Roy Baldwin Trophy

A GOOD turn-out for the annual Roy Baldwin Trophy witnessed one of the senior performances of the season so far, as Brian Whittaker, playing off nine, completed his round in a gross score of 72, just two over par.

His round included nine pars and four birdies and left him four shots clear of runner-up Ted Parrott, whose score of 67 would have been good enough to win most stroke play competitions.

Other players to break par on the day were: Scott Webster with 68 off 17, Peter Hooper (69 off 25), Danny McDougall (69 off 16) and Dave Mitchell (69 off 14). Twos were recorded by Dave Mitchell, David Mountfield and Richard Kidner.

Cotswold Hills Seniors’ Open

BRIAN WHITTAKER’S excellent form continued into the morning session of the Cotswold Hills Seniors’ Open played later in the week, where his 35 points was good enough to secure second place in Division One.

However Brian was outgunned by his fellow South Cerney member namesake John Whittaker (no relation), whose score of 36 points won first prize in Division Two.
