Minchinhampton Old Course
Seniors' section
THE Seniors Open Championship at Minchinhampton Old Course was held this year on May 8 attracting a field of 151 golfers from as far afield as Buckingham, Sapey in Herefordshire and Peterborough.
Home players did particularly well this year, none more so than the seniors' chairman John Nation who returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines to card an overall winning Stableford score of 41 points.
Division One:
1st: John Nation (Minchinhampton Old Course) 41; 2nd: Neil Tothill (Minchinhampton New Course) 40; 3rd: Ian Ream (Buckingham GC).
Division Two
1st: Keith Atkinson (Minchinhampton Old Course) 40; 2nd: Simon Stroud (Minchinhampton Old Course) 38; 3rd: Barry Wilder (Minchinhampton Old Course) 36
Division Three
1st: John Morris (Minchinhampton Old Course) 40; 2nd: Richard Baxendale (Shrivenham Park GC) 39; 3rd: Michael Lambert (Minchinhampton Old Course) 36.
Arthur Edmonds Bogey Competition
1st: Michael Johns (plus 3); 2nd: Phil Spencer (plus 3); 3rd: Ollie Price (plus 3).
Stableford Eclectic
1st: Bob Miles (41); 2nd: Peter Hankins (39); 3rd: Paul Wilson (39).
