TETBURY Cricket Club have secured sponsorship in 2017 from Bewley Homes.

The club enjoyed a mixed 2016 campaign when the 1st XI were relegated from GCCL Div One, but the 2nd XI managed to win promotion to Div One of the CDCA.

Club secretary Alex Evans said: "After a difficult 2016 we felt we needed to get a big company on board this year.

"Getting all the lads in the same shirts has been problematic in previous seasons, so thanks to the generous sponsorship of Bewley Homes we have managed to get every signed-on member a new playing shirt for the season.

"We have lost a couple of key players from last year in Tom Horrell and Sam Price, along with club stalwart Greg Sharpe, so we are doing all we can to try and attract new players and committee members to the club.

"Jamie Ponting and the rest of the committee (Andy Insull, James Westhead, Paul Jones, Mike Baverstock, Mark Schumm, Ben Evans, Ryan & Scott Leather and Ryan Walker) have done a superb job in recent years.

"They have brought in outdoor roller net equipment and sight screens (kindly manufactured by club members John Hoddy and Sid Baverstock along with the Meacham builders) as well as the new outdoor stores and garage doors (Paul Carpenter and Ryan Leather).

"The club have also heavily reinvested in its playing surface for the last three years and Ash Kimber's work has seen a huge improvement."

Neil Simpson, sales and marketing director for Bewley Homes, said: “We are delighted to be able to lend our support to Tetbury CC and would like to wish the team every success for this season.”

The club are also in the process of relaunching the youth set-up in the town. This is currently being run with the Chance to Shine coaching initiative at St Mary's Primary School.
