CIA Mills-Roberts Cup Final
Minety 3
Kingshill Sports 1

MINETY ran out deserved winners of the CIA Mills-Roberts Cup final with a convincing 3-1 win over Kingshill Sports.

The success ended a near 90-year drought for the club in the Cirencester & District League – their last trophy was the second division title in the 1929-30 season.

Minety went into half-time a goal up thanks to a delightful Jake Pegler lob.

Kingshill’s Jody Lawrence pulled one back before James Hurcombe’s dogged determination put Minety back in front.

He gained possession in front of goal, lost it but retrieved the situation before shooting through a crowd of Kingshill defenders into the net.

For the final 10 minutes Kingshill laid siege on their rivals' goal but Minety put the game beyond doubt when, in the 88th minute, Robyn Collier scored with a 35-yard free kick to make it 3-1.
