London Marathon

HUGE congratulations go to Ben Chapman of the Running Somewhere Else club who ran his first marathon in the Virgin-sponsored event in London on Sunday and finished in a great time of 3:56.28.

Credit also to Pete Whitmore who completed in 6:39.41.

This iconic event attracts more than 39,000 runners, not to mention the thousands and thousands of supporters lining the streets along the way.

Athens Poseidon Half Marathon

LOUISE ABBOTT travelled a little further afield to the spectacular city of Athens, and competed in the Athens Poseidon Half Marathon, which is described as a fast beautiful course. Despite the heat Louise finished in 2:34.00.

Southampton Half Marathon & 10k

STEVE SANDERCOCK ran in the Southampton Half Marathon and Paul Coates, Caroline Coates and Caroline Sandercock ran in the 10k there on Sunday.

Both races covered the same route although the half marathon ran through a huge expanse of common.

From 100 feet up on Itchen Bridge the runners could admire the stunning view of the city and see out towards the Isle of Wight.

Steve finished the Half in 1:58.52. Paul finished the 10k in 51.32, followed by Caroline Coates in 1:04.10 and Caroline Sandercock in 1:09.38.

Corsham 10k

RICHARD MARSHALL ran in the Corsham 10k on Sunday.

The course took the runners on an undulating route starting in the centre of historic Corsham, then following the country lanes to Neston, from there it was mostly downhill to the finish except for the last climb on Pound Hill at 9k before heading back to the finish. Richard finished in 55.58.

Poole – Martyn Joyce 20.29.

Greenwich – Matt Lambourne 20.05, Cat Shelley 26.36.
